“Once again in an effort to protect the sport and off road venues, WOR Events had the services of an official ACU approved noise tester on hand at the recent events on the weekend of 10/11 th May.
Alex Nichols was the man in charge and he was kept very busy as he powered his way through test after test. Alex was set up with all his gizmos and with the weather being so kind (no wind and no rain!!) was able to do accurate readings for the assembled masses all wanting to know if their bike had passed the 94db limit.
The first bike of the weekend to be tested was Steve Ireland's CF Racing KTM 450. With the standard XCF pipe it was over at 96db, With the FMF Q pipe fitted it was down to 92db, proof that these quiet pipes do actually work.
Alex's finding were very good indeed, the majority of riders on the noisy Four strokes that WOR had earlier put a ban on were sailing through at 91 -94db, this is with their DB DAWGS and their aftermarket quiet pipes fitted again showing the impact on venues and neighbours can be reduced due to a little bit of smart thinking.
The noisiest bikes that stood out over the weekend were 250 2 strokes. A KTM 250 EXC, a TM 250 and an older YZ 250 were all found to be over 102 db, this is unacceptable and also so easy to put right.
It was a simple case of educating riders that re packing exhausts is a VITAL part of bike maintenance and not only makes the bike sound better it will also make the bike run better.

Alex Commented on the weekends testing:
“Fair play to WOR for taking these tests on this weekend and well done to all those riders that have really quietened down their machines. I was really impressed at how many riders passed the test and through educating the riders that don't know how important re packing a silencer is I think that this could be the start of quieter motor bike events around the country. If other clubs and organisations around the country follow WOR's lead on this matter then the situation will certainly improve,
Well done all!! “
